The view from atop Mt. Princeton is majestic. Pike’s Peak is in the distance to the east and all around you are rocky, rugged mountains for as far as you can see. It makes you feel small and insignificant. It can make you feel helpless and hopeless – unassisted survival wouldn’t last long up here. But it can also make you feel secure that God made all this, commands all this, and is more interested in you than all this.
On the hike up this 14er, God reminded me of just how blessed I am. I have done more, seen more, been in more places, loved more and been loved more than I can even remember or deserve. As the Lord flashed all these things in front of me, I heard him clearly say, “Stop being discontent.”
I’ve always been a go-getter, a self-starter, and an entrepreneurial thinker… and those things aren’t bad or ungodly. But when the spirit of adventure causes me to complain, get angry, or jump ship and disobey the Father, that’s a problem.
Are there any of you out there who – like me – need to be reminded just how huge God is, how much he loves you, and just how blessed you are? Perhaps God is calling you to discontinue your discontent.

Kudos- Marty! God has shown me a beautiful “sacredness” in what others might call “mundane.” In my little corner of the world I am currently in a very restful season. My highlights are everything from holding a hummingbird in my hand (it was incredible), helping ‘ol farmer Tom Miller round up a stray cow, sharing some dinner with Joe, our widowed neighbor or investing in Taylor, an adolescent who comes weekly to help with the horses. Then there is my weekly readings at the local nursing home. My last visit, Walter was not only “up” but feeling good and joined us for the reading. We were all very happy about that. You see, he spends much of his days curled in a fetal position in bed wracked with pain. We have all been praying that God would be merciful and now we are seeing the miraculous fruits of those prayers through God’s amazing power. This morning Clay and I watched three bucks romp in the field next to us. There are many who would call this a life of boredom… mundane. I call it “filled with all of His fullness and enjoying every minute of rich fellowship with my dear Jesus.” I am excited to see whom He would appoint a visit for me today. Maybe it will be my precious mail lady whom I have prayed to get to know better.

Amen, bro! And furthermore, I believe that until we learn to follow Him completely and contentedly in the small things of the day, we probably can’t be trusted to be stewards over the bigger things in His kingdom.
May we each learn to follow him solely, wholely, and contentedly in every small thing.

Thank you Marty, it is incredible to think that the God who created all the amazing people and landmarks we see, cares about us individually with the same passion. He seems to be saying that to his children. I’m doing a study on a book called Crazy Love by Francis Chan and he talks about the same thing. You will resonate with him as you see the video clips he has in his web site Crazylove.com. I’m re-discovering this part of God’s character. His incredible creation compared to His amazing love for me.
Thank you for your updates. Love you all.
